Review: Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil

Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil

It’s safe to say that I’m obsessed with Olaplex. The No.3 Hair Perfector Treatment literally saved my locks from years of damage and breakage. Thus, when I heard that the brand had released a new oil, my wavy strands begged me to get my hands on in. Here is my review of the Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil.

The oil comes packaged in a clear, sturdy bottle with a screw-on cap. What I love the most about the bottle, however, is the way it dispenses the product. To release the oil, you have to turn the bottle upside down and give it a gentle tap. Unlike most bottles, which gush out the formula and cause wastage, this one delivers a single metered drop per tap. The ingredients and directions for use are mentioned on the accompanying box.

In terms of formula, this product was everything I had hoped it to be. The golden oil spread easily through my hair, without weighing it down or leaving behind any sticky residue. A little goes a long way with this oil though. When applied to damp hair, my waist-length tresses require 2 to 3 drops. On dry hair, 1 to 2 drops are enough to cover the entire area.

I’ve been using this oil for about 3 weeks now and have already convinced several members of my family to purchase a bottle for themselves. Not only does the product tame frizz and moisturize my parched strands, but also leaves behind a subtle, glossy sheen. It has also worked wonderfully to provide my waves with definition, without sacrificing on volume. Since the oil contains the same key ingredient, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, as the No.3 treatment, it helps repair broken bonds to make my hair stronger. It also provides heat protection (up to 450°F!) so it’s perfect for days when I need to use my flat iron. Since I’ve started using this oil, I’ve noticed that my mane is softer to touch and is smoother than it’s ever been.

Weightless, reparative and nourishing, this styling oil has found itself a permanent place on my shelf. I would definitely recommend picking up a bottle to experience the magic for yourself.
