Review: RMS Beauty Magic Luminizer

RMS Beauty Magic Luminizer

As much as I love it when my highlighter can be seen from space, I know that everyday occasions call for a subtler glow. After a ton of research and recommendations, I settled on the RMS Beauty Magic Luminizer. Here is my review.

The packaging is rather minimalistic and straightforward. The product comes in a frosted glass jar with a cap bearing the brand name. The shade name is printed on the bottom of the jar.

The highlighter really shines (excuse the pun) in the formula department. Although it looks creamy in the jar, the product feels more like a balm. However, it has no residual stickiness. Since it contains coconut oil, jojoba oil and castor oil, it blends seamlessly and smoothly into skin, without any patchiness. Magic Luminizer is a champagne hue with pink undertones. Unlike most highlighters, this one has no obvious shimmer or glitter finish. Instead, it leaves behind a sheer tint of colour and a dewy sheen. For a noticeable glow, layer on 2-3 coats. Whilst you can use a brush, I’ve found that my fingers warm up the formula perfectly and make it easier to buff the product in.

I’ve been wearing this highlighter to work everyday and have already convinced 3 of my colleagues to buy it! Initially, I was worried that the finish would emphasize my pores, but it somehow manages to make my skin look even. It lasts for about 5 hours on my cheekbones, but fades faster on my oilier T-zone. I’ve even taken to applying it on my collarbones and on the inner corners of my eyes for some extra oomph. However, if you do have acne-prone skin, I suggest you buy a sample first as coconut oil can clog pores.

If all you desire is a natural-looking, luminous glow, then this is the highlighter for you! I’m definitely going to be stocking up on it.
