Health Advisory: Do Not Share Your Makeup!

From sharing career moves to motherhood tips, women support each other unequivocally. As much as we love this fact, the one thing we refuse to share is makeup! Although makeup looks pretty, it can often be a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. Here are 3 types of products that you should never share!

1.     Lipsticks, Glosses and Balms

It is common knowledge that women go to the bathroom together (hey, it’s an unspoken rule). Usually these trips end up with a round of gossip and your favourite red lipstick being passed around.  However, sharing lip products can cause cold sores, which are painful and contagious. So the next time, stick to the gossip and skip the lippie!

2.     Eye Liners, Mascaras and Shadow Sticks

As much as you envy your co-worker’s thick lashes, refrain from borrowing her mascara. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) and styes spread easily through eye products. Protect your peepers by keeping your eye makeup to yourself.

3.     Makeup Brushes

Recently, a woman was confined to a wheelchair due to a staph infection. How did she get it? By sharing a makeup brush with her friend! Although this case was extremely rare, brushes can transmit bacteria and viruses easily. Always use your own makeup brush and remember to keep it clean!

Instead of sharing your makeup products, try sharing a few beauty tips instead! You and your girls will be happier and healthier.
