Review: Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Lipstick In ‘Spanked’

Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Lipstick In ‘Spanked’

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love presents… especially no-occasion ones! Thus, when my husband brought home a tiny bag from Sephora on a regular workday, I was elated. Inside was a tube of Fenty Beauty’s Mattemoiselle Lipstick in ‘Spanked’. As it turns out, he had caught me eyeing (and swatching) these lipsticks before so he decided to surprise me with one! Here is my review.

The lipstick comes packaged in a slim and reflective rose gold tube that looks uber chic. Unfortunately, the tube can get a little messy as it picks up fingerprints easily. It also feels a little flimsy, which is surprising considering the price. Both, the cap and the bullet are engraved with the brand’s logo. The bullet itself is slanted, which helps the formula reach all corners of the lips. Be careful whilst handling this lipstick - the bullet of mine came a tad smudged and caught in the cap when I tried to close it the first time. The shade name is mentioned on a colour-coded sticker beneath the tube.

In terms of formula, this lipstick was exactly as described. The creamy texture and weightless consistency ensured that it glided on to my lips smoothly, without tugging on any dry patches. ‘Spanked’ is a medium-toned, dusty rose with a soft, matte finish. The formula is incredibly pigmented so a single coat is enough to get full coverage.

I’ve worn this lipstick to several work events with great success. The colour stays put for 5-6 hours, without bleeding, feathering or smudging. Although it is no match for a greasy slice of pizza, it doesn’t fade or transfer much with a cup of coffee. A big plus point in its favour is that the formula doesn’t dry out my pout as many matte lipsticks do.

Velvety, saturated and long lasting, this lightweight lipstick is definitely one to purchase. I plan on swatching a few more so that my husband gets the hint and picks up another couple of shades for me!
