When it comes to hair or jewellery, shiny is a compliment. But when your complexion turns into a reflective surface of oil that shines like the sun, shiny definitely isn’t a praise. To combat the inevitable greasiness that comes with summer, we decided to try out Make Up For Ever’s Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. Here is our review.
The product comes packaged in a squeezable, plastic tube, which is dark grey in colour. The thin, elongated nozzle works well to dispense the formula, without causing any wastage.
At first glance, the primer seemed thick in consistency and slightly tacky. On application however, we found that it melted seamlessly into our skin to provide a non-sticky, invisible finish. On the downside, this product has quite a strong fragrance.
In terms of longevity, we declare this baby to be a winner! Our faces stayed matte for over 6 hours. It layered well under our foundations, without causing any pilling. Sadly, the primer did not blur out our pores significantly as the claims stated. Those with combination skin should take care to only apply the product on their oily zones, as it does enhance dry spots. The primer also caused a few of us to break out, so it’s best to carry out a patch test before application.
Weightless, instantly mattifying and long lasting, this primer is bound to be a saviour this season! Skip the blotting sheets and grab a tube of this instead.
