Skincare Quickies: Double Cleansing

Skincare Quickies is our latest series, which gives you a short rundown on the key techniques, trends and ingredients relating to skincare. Consider this as your cheat sheet to an incredible complexion.

Topic:

Double cleansing

What It Is:

Essentially, it involves using two different types of cleansers to wash your face.

The Reason:

The first cleanse will loosen any residue and grime, whilst the second step will restore balance to your complexion.

The Benefits:

Lesser breakouts, cleaner pores and a brighter complexion.

Recommended Products:

The first cleanse should ideally be with an oil or a cleansing balm.

The second cleanse should be done with a water-based cleanser. If you have dry or tight skin, skip the foaming formulas and opt for cleansing gels or milks.

The Method:

Massage the oil or balm with dry hands on your face. Use warm water to emulsify the oil. Rinse and then follow up with your second cleanser.

Who Is It Suitable For:

If you live in a polluted city or wear makeup everyday, this technique is great for you. In addition, if you are being responsible and putting on sunscreen throughout the day, the double cleanse will take off all the residue to avoid your pores from getting clogged.

Who Is It Not Suitable For:

Anyone with sensitive skin or rosacea should avoid this as it can irritate skin.
