Be it our intense love for all things glitter, or our futile attempts to channel our inner Britney, the phases we’ve gone through in our teenage years is one we always look upon fondly (with a tiny bit of cringing). The one we remember the most? The rocker chick phase! Leather jackets, smudged liner and studded accessories – we definitely thought that we were the toughest of the lot. Which is why Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick brought back some serious nostalgia. Here is our review of ‘Bachelorette’!
The lipstick comes packaged in a badass, studded tube. The black casing and engraved cap give it an extra edge. The bullet is just like a traditional lipstick, but bears the logo of the brand on it. The shade name and exact colour is shown on a sticker beneath the tube.
Matte lipsticks are often accused of being hard to work with, and this lipstick seems to prove the rumours true. The product has a stiff, waxy consistency and went on our lips with a fair amount of tugging and dragging. ‘Bachelorette’ is a pinkish-red shade that leans towards the warmer end. One swipe provides patchy colour, while two coats give pigmented, super matte lips. The lipstick does have a vanilla-like, sweet scent to it that can bother those with sensitive noses.
On the longevity front, this lipstick proved its worth. The colour stayed true and matte for a full 6 hours, without any fading. However, if you are planning on eating, carry the tube around as it isn’t transfer-proof. While the formula neither dries nor hydrates lips, we like the fact that it did not settle into the lines of our lips.
If you are looking to pull off a long-lasting, bold lip, then this is the lipstick for you! Although the formula is challenging to apply, a bit of balm or lip primer can make all the difference. Ultra-matte, saturated and undoubtedly edgy, this lipstick is one of a kind!
